More arrests in Lebanese spy ring

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- A Lebanese army colonel and two Palestinians have been arrested on charges of spying for Israel.

The arrests Tuesday bring to about 30 the number of suspects Lebanon is holding in a growing investigation into espionage on behalf of Israel.

At least 21 suspects have been charged, some in absentia, according to the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz. Several suspects, including members of the military, have confessed. Two of the alleged spies crossed the border into Israel last week.

Israel has not commented on the accusations.
