Rightists protest Obama in Jerusalem
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Right-wing activists outside the American Consulate in Jerusalem protested Obama administration statements regarding Jewish settlements.
About 200 protesters demonstrated Wednesday evening under the slogan "Obama! No You Can't." The demonstration was timed to coincide with President Obama's scheduled Thursday address to the Muslim world from Cairo University.
"The 'two-state solution's a crafty formula to bring about the 'final solution' for Israel," an advertisement for the right-wing protest read.
The protest was sponsored by Women in Green, The Action Committees of Efrat-Gush Etzion-Kiryat Arba-Hevron, Vaad Mityashvei Shomron, Vaad Mityashvei Benyamin and other groups.
Also Wednesday, left-wing groups announced that they were holding a peace rally Saturday night in Tel Aviv. The demonstration is sponsored by Meretz, Hadash, Gush Shalom and other groups.
