PrintSwine flu postpones N.Y. school’s graduation
(JTA) -- A swine flu outbreak forced a New York City Jewish day school to postpone its middle school graduation.
Eight students at Ramaz in Manhattan have confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, according to a report in the online magazine Tablet.
The June 15 graduation was rescheduled for June 22.
In a note to parents, the school said that "while an advancement is indeed a milestone that is eagerly anticipated and well-deserved for all who attend, this is a matter of Pikuach Nefesh, where we make the saving of human life paramount."
Ramaz fifth- through seventh-graders were told to stay home from school on June 17 and 18 as a precaution.
