Arson suspected in Israeli forest fires
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Arson is suspected in most of some two dozen forest fires that broke out in northern Israeli forests, according to reports.
At least 25 fires broke out in the Galilee region during a 24-hour period that began Tuesday evening. The fires are being fed by a major heat wave.
Residents in at least two towns in the path of the most serious blazes were forced to evacuate their homes. Several roads were closed to traffic.
