Geithner to talk Iran sanctions on trip
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will discuss Iranian sanctions with leaders in Europe and the Middle East.
"Issues with Iran" will be on the agenda when Geithner meets with British Finance Minister Alistair Darling and Prime Minister Gordon Brown and leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates next week, said a Treasury official, according to media reports. Geithner is scheduled to finish the trip by meeting with French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde on July 16.
A Treasury official said Thursday that Geithner would also be discussing efforts to stop terrorist financing, along with global economic issues, according to media reports.
