Third corruption case against Olmert closed

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Israel's attorney general closed another corruption case against former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert due to lack of evidence.

The complaint brought by the Movement for Quality Government had alleged that Olmert had taken about $250,000 in bribes in exchange for assisting the Laniado Hospital in Netanya when he was industry and trade minister.

It is the third case against Olmert to be dropped since he left office under a cloud of suspicion. Olmert faces possible indictments in two other cases: one in which Olmert allegedly accepted envelopes of cash from American businessman Morris Talansky and allegations of double billing for Olmert's private family trips.
