Israel accused of stealing Palestinian organs
NEW YORK (JTA) -- A leading Swedish newspaper accused Israeli soldiers of harvesting human organs from Palestinians.
In a large spread in its culture section, the Swedish daily Aftonbladet reported that young Palestinian men were seized by Israel and returned to their families with missing organs, Ha'aretz reported. The story ran under the headline, "They plunder the organs of our sons."
The story also cites the recent arrest of a New York rabbi accused of trafficking in human organs.
Israel responded angrily to the story, lodging a protest with both the Swedish government and the newspaper.
According to Wikipedia, Aftonbladet is the largest daily newspaper in Scandinavia, reaching some 15 percent of the Swedish population in 2006.
