Yom Kippur adjustment forces U2 to reschedule concert
NEW YORK (JTA) -- The rock band U2 reportedly has rescheduled a concert in New Jersey because of Yom Kippur.
The legendary Irish outfit announced it would play at Giants Stadium on Sept. 23 instead of Sept. 25 to avoid conflict with the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, according to a New York Times blog.
U2's concert was bumped forward after the New York Jets said its game, originally set for 4:00 PM on Sept. 27, would start three hours earlier because of the onset of Yom Kippur at sundown later that day. That announcement, in turn, forced U2 to move its entire concert two days earlier, as stadium officials said the time between the end of the U2 concert as originally scheduled and the new Giants' kickoff time would be too short to disassemble the rock band's set.
