PrintArgentine writer Kovadloff threatened
BUENOS AIRES (JTA) -- Argentine philosopher and writer Santiago Kovadloff received threatening phone calls that he called anti-Semitic.
The calls, which came last Saturday from unknown callers, invited Kovadloff to donate money to preach Jesus' message, as well as "to "fight the Jewish (sic) and deicide." A second call recommended he be baptized. The first caller identified himself as a member of the Legionaries of Christ, according to the La Nacion national daily newspaper.
The Argentina congregation of the Legionaries of Christ denied being responsible for the calls, La Nacion reported Tuesday.
The prestigious essayist and professor in an article published the day before the threats in La Nacion, criticized the "autocracy" of Nestor Kirchner, former president of Argentina and husband of the current president
Argentina's DAIA Jewish political umbrella organization repudiated the attacks and demanded a full investigation.
