Oren: U.S. behind Israel on Goldstone report
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Israel's ambassador to the United States said the Obama administration backs the Jewish state in opposing the Goldstone report.
The United States is "foursquare beside us against the Goldstone report," Michael Oren said Tuesday at the National Jewish Democratic Council's annual conference.
Oren also said he had met that morning with Pentagon officials about ensuring Israel's qualitative military edge. Israel had come recently to the Obama administration concerned that the edge had eroded, he said, and U.S. officials said immediately that "we are going to address this."
The response, Oren added, was "so warm and immediate."
