PrintClinton to visit Israel
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to visit Israel this week, Israeli media is reporting.
Clinton is expected to arrive in Israel Saturday night, Ha'aretz reported, in her first official visit since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government took office. It will be her second visit to the region since the Obama administration came to power.
U.S. Mideast envoy George Mitchell reportedly will arrive Thursday in Israel for meetings to lay the groundwork for the Clinton visit.
Clinton reportedly is scheduled to meet Sunday with Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and President Shimon Peres. Following her visit to Israel, Clinton will attend a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Morocco.
Netanyahu is expected to meet with President Obama next month in Washington on the sidelines of the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly, a meeting that both leaders are scheduled to address.
