PrintEx-JCPA chief in running for anti-Semitism envoy post
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- A former Jewish communal leader reportedly is a top candidate for the U.S. secretary of state's anti-Semitism monitor.
Politico reported Wednesday that Hannah Rosenthal, the ex-head of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, was being considered for the spot as special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, and a friend of Rosenthal confirmed that she is a top candidate.
Congress passed a law establishing the position in 2004. Gregg Rickman was the first envoy in 2006, but the post has been vacant since he left at the start of the Obama administration.
Rosenthal served from 2000 to 2005 as executive director of JCPA and is also a former executive director at the Chicago Foundation for Women. She is currently the vice president for community relations for the not-for-profit WPS Health Insurance Company.
