PrintHaredim return to protest Jerusalem Intel factory
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Fervently Orthodox demonstrators protested again at the Intel factory in Jerusalem for operating on Shabbat.
Saturday's protest, which drew up to 2,000 demonstrators, according to Israeli media, was the second demonstration against the computer chip maker in two weeks.
A large contingent of police at times used water hoses to disperse the crowd. The protestors, who chanted "Shabbos, Shabbos," called the police "Nazis."
Four demonstrators were arrested, including a teen accused of damaging Intel property during last week's protest.
Earlier in the week, Intel had agreed to employ only non-Jewish workers on Saturday. The mainstream Orthodox groups appeared to have approved the plan.
More extreme haredi groups are directing the current demonstrations, according to reports.
