PrintKoret, Taube foundations give $50 million for projects
NEW YORK (JTA) -- Two U.S. foundations announced that together they have given some $50 million to Jewish peoplehood projects in the San Francisco area, Israel and Poland.
The San Francisco-based Koret Foundation and the Taube Foundation said recently that the grants have been awarded over the past several years, and that they intend to give out millions more for peoplehood initiatives.
Thus far the money has gone toward a number of building projects, including the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life in Palo Alto, Calif., which the foundations are calling the flagship of their new initiative.
The Taube-Koret Initiative takes a renewed look at Jewish peoplehood, engaging adults further in the Jewish community and creating a broader approach to cultural programming. Of particular funding interest are collaborations with and among Jewish organizations that celebrate expressions of connection, continuity and culture that derive from diverse Jewish traditions.
