Party time at the zoo: Animals get Agri wings
(JTA) -- Some 20 tons of frozen chicken wings from the former Agriprocessors kosher slaughterhouse were given to a local zoo.
The wings from the plant in Postville, Iowa, could not be sold, but were deemed fit for human consumption, the Associated Press reported. The wings were given to the Cricket Hollow Zoo in Manchester, Iowa, due to the intervention of the Iowa Waste Exchange.
The zoo is sharing its windfall with other Iowa zoos.
