PrintIsrael bombs southern Gaza
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Israel's Air Force bombed targets in the southern Gaza Strip.
The attack early Wednesday was carried out jointly with the Israel Security Agency, or Shin Bet, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The attack was in response to Palestinian rocket fire against Israeli communities in the northwestern Negev region over the last few days, the IDF said in a statement.
Rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Sunday and Monday.
The Israeli bombs reportedly hit an unused airport near Rafah.
"The IDF will continue to operate firmly against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel," the IDF statement said. "Hamas is solely responsible for maintaining peace and quiet in the Gaza Strip."
