PrintShoah Foundation to auction off patented technology
(JTA) -- Patented technology developed for Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation for indexing and searching its vast archived collection of video testimonies is being auctioned off.
The Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, which became part of the University of Southern California in 2006, is auctioning off the rights to 11 key patents at the end of the month, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The foundation will retain rights to the technology for indexing and searching for noncommercial uses, and also will continue to allow others to use the technology for education and research, the report said.
The minimum bid for all 11 patents is set at $750,000. The proceeds will go to the institute.
The technology could be of interest to search-engine, media, broadcast, software and computer-hardware companies.
