Thousands salute Israel at N.Y. parade
(JTA) -- Tens of thousands lined New York's Fifth Avenue for the Salute to Israel Parade.
Sunday's annual march marked Israel's 62nd Independence Day.
Jewish boxer Yuri Foreman, the World Boxing Association's super welterweight champion, who is also studying to become a rabbi, served as the grand marshal.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and gubernatorial candidates Andrew Cuomo and Rick Lazio were among the New York elected officials who marched in the parade.
