PrintGroups to compete for $200,000 in grants to help disabled
NEW YORK (JTA) – A new grant from the Ruderman Family Foundation will support programs and services for the disabled in the Jewish community.
The Ruderman Prize in Disability, a global competition that will provide up to 10 organizations with a total of $200,000, was announced Monday by the foundation's president, Jay Ruderman.
Applications will be available on the foundation's website starting Dec. 6 -- the same day that ADVANCE 2011: The Ruderman Jewish Special Needs Conference begins. The conference, co-sponsored by the Ruderman foundation, brings together Jewish funders of disability services.
“Dialogue and collaboration are extremely important to meeting our goal of full inclusion for people with disabilities,” Ruderman said. “Equally important, though, is putting funds directly in the hands of organizations that we believe have the most innovative and creative programs, and letting them run with the ball. Some will succeed and some may fail, but standing still while our brothers and sisters with disabilities are shut out of opportunities is simply not an option.”
The deadline to apply is March 15; award winners will be announced in June.
