PrintGeneral strike ends in Israel
JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Israel's largest labor federation ended its general strike after five days.
Under an agreement reached Sunday between the Histadrut and Israel's Finance Ministry, contract workers will receive a minimum monthly wage and other benefits.
The strike launched Feb. 8 by the Histadrut, Israel's main labor union, was undertaken in support of providing contract workers with benefits.
It had closed down the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, stopped trains across the country and caused major delays at Ben Gurion Airport. The strike also affected hospitals, government offices and banks.
