Unchecked settler violence prompts fears of intifada

The Israeli government and security officials fear that the unchecked settler violence could spark a new Palestinian intifada, enrage the Muslim world, compromise Israel's international standing and threaten Israel itself.

So, some folks think that the anger and actions of settlers in Hebron are gonna make the muslim world more hateful toward Israel? Guess again, the muslim world ALREADY HATES the Jewish State of ISRAEL, one could not possibly make them hate more than they now do! ANTAGONIZE them more? Hah, makes me laugh. I’m positive that most people have not forgotten the 1967 conflict and the 1972 attacks,,,,,do the leaders in Israel think the arab/muslim world has changed it’s ultimate goal of driving every Jew into the sea? Don’t throw your future away by believing that the palestinians and muslims are ever gonna be satisfied to live in harmony with any people who are not them!

I agree with Alex to a certain extent. The settlers should have been able to stay in their homes until the legal matters were cleared up. However, we, as Torah observant Jews, must always watch our behavior to set the example as expected of us. Defending ourselves against being torn from our homes - yes - but not defacing others’ property and other bullying. This reduces us to their level. However, it must be terribly frightening to be a “settler” in our own land. These poor people - our people - must feel very desperate to go to such extremes.

It is unacceptable, according to the Torah, to use unchecked violence, i would even say uncalled for. I think we must state our opinion as Orthodox Jews: how is it possible to set an example of wild responses! While we must say honestly that the government is wrong by being submissive, we must not allow ourselves to be wrong by behaving like savages!

I can’t fathom why Jews would do this! Have we not learned from past experiences that this is hateful and will only spark more violence? Fine, graffiti something with a magen david… but remember it’s at the expense of our people and might very well lead to violence and blood shed. That’s what lays on these radical’s hands… not just the defacing of property.

To abrogate the right of any Jew to acquire property in Yehudah and Shomron, particularly in Hebron, is terrorism by fiat of the state! To declare a legal purchase null and void for purely political reasons is judicial terrorism! Jews have lived in Hebron continuously since times immemorial until they were murdered or expelled by the Arabs in 1929. Then the British stood by and didn’t defend the innocent civilians nor did they punish the perpetrators or return the property to its rightful Jewish owners. Now the Jewish anti-Semites of Kadimah and Labor under the direction of the corrupt and bankrupt Olmert and Barak have acted in the best tradition of the British and the Mufti. It is long past time that Olmert spend his retirement behind bars.

BTW, where do settlers live in Eretz Israel? Only in Hebron, Amona, Modi’in etc.? Why not in Tel Aviv or Haifa?

Until the Arabs accept the irreversibility of the existence of Israel no “peace process” can be meaningful.
