(JTA) — A Palestinian woman was reported killed and dozens were wounded amid riots and protests by 13,000 Palestinians along the fence separating Israel and Gaza.
The woman was killed Friday from gunfire in one of several places along the fence where riots were staged, according to the Israel Broadcasting Corp., or KAN. Ma’an News, a Palestinian agency, also reported about the fatality but did not name the deceased.
At least 25 people were injured in clashes with Israeli security forces, according to Ma’an.
A military source told KAN that an Israel Air Force aircraft struck a Hamas post to retaliate for the riots, which Israel believes are being routinely organized by Hamas.
In the northern Gaza Strip, three groups of Palestinians tried to cross the fence but retreated when fired upon by Israeli soldiers, KAN reported.
