The office of Rabbi David Lau sent the letter to the rabbinate official who singlehandedly decides which Jewish conversions meet the threshold for Orthodox marriage in Israel.
The former rabbi at a prominent Washington synagogue pleaded guilty to 52 counts of misdemeanor voyeurism and could be sentenced to a maximum penalty of 52 years in prison.
