Jerusalem-born Americans may not list their birth country as “Israel” in their passports, but Congress’ role in determining foreign policy remains intact.
In a case involving a law that would allow Jerusalem-born U.S. citizens to list their birthplace as Israel, Menachem Zivotofsky, 12, was pitted against the executive branch of the U.S. government.
The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear for the second time a case which would allow Americans born in Jerusalem to list “Israel” as their birthplace on their passports.
