To: Namir Yaarot: You may not approve of Ruth Messinger, but she has done more good for the world at large than most people. Hateful speech only displays your unfortunate mind set. One of the reasons the Temple was destroyed was because of speech such as yours. Shabbat Shalom N Kabak Kiwi Certified Quality, Ltd. "For food you can trust". Wellington, NZ

Please visit the following site and learn what children in Wellington New Zealand are doing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7l2IgxA6CU HOLOCAUST BUTTON COUNT: 1,229,244 We are collecting one button for every child who was a victim of the holocaust: We need 1.5 million buttons! This enormous task is designed to help our students understand the scale of the holocaust. When we have finished we will build a memorial artwork. Please support us by sending us your spare buttons and financial assistance, to keep the school alive and to fulfill our honor bound commitment so that the words, "Never Again" will be true.. We are now well over the million-button mark and on our way to completing our goal. The next step will be to generate funding to build the sculpture. This week the Mayor of Wellington met with our students to discuss a suitable location for building the sculpture. We came away feeling positive that, while we still have some big hurdles ahead of us, our grand ideas and dreams can be realised. Please send what you can to: Moriah College P O Box 27-233, Marion Square, Wellington, 6141 New Zealand
Posted in: Ask The Expert: Why does kosher meat cost so much?
Chaim's remarks are spot on. Further, "Jewish law also requires that kosher meat be soaked in water for half an hour, salted, and then washed thoroughly three times. In non-kosher meat plants where these extra steps aren't taken," The salting and soaking presents a small fraction of processing costs and when done in a factory setting, with supervised mechanical devices, those added costs minuscule. It might be noted that the United Synagogue in England has recently published a Siddur featuring a commentary and translation by the chief rabbi of England, Sir Jonathan Sacks. It is pleasurable to use and except for the prayer for the Royal family, I beleie no American would object to its use. Personally, I do find the "Birnbaum" a clear and cogent siddur. Haveing said all of the above, a Bnei Akiva shaliach here in New Zeaand pointed out that none of the above mentioned siddurim contain some of the prayers that are said in an orthdox Israeli minyan. This is where the Koren Siddur would shine. N Kabak Wellington, NZ

A test for Soros and others. The New Zealand Jewish community is faced with a ban on Kosher slaughter - Shechita. We have a court case pending at the end of this month, and our legal fees are well beyond the ability of our minuscule community of 6,500 Jews in the entire country, to pay. Yet, this will be the first time since Nazi Germany has banned Shechita that any Jewish community has faced such a dire situation. If we fail in our attempt, will the denial of other Jewish religious practices also be denied? Will other countries follow the example of New Zealand, should our appeal fail? We need universal Jewish support as well as the support of honorable people throughout the world. Please help by making a donation.
