I respect observant Jews and their right to honor their religion but I expect them to view my rights to observe Judiasm in my own way. I was a member of a local JCC which after 20 years was sold out by the Federation, literally and sold to the YMCA. For many years this JCC was closed during Shabbat but opened at sunset. The thought finally penetrated that non-Jews were unable to use the facility due to religious observance. It began opening for the day on Shabbat, and the sky didn't fall in. In the current world we live in we as Jews are part of the greater community and must share Jewish-oriented facilities, such as the JCC.s with non-Jews, particularly when grant $ are being received with the stipulation that no discrimination can occur.
