Police Search Ends Blood Libel.

Prompt intervention by the police prevented what might have resulted in grave consequence to the Jews of Czestochow following the libel that a Jewish merchant named Wladoweky had murdered a Christian woman for “ritual purposes”.

The rumor spread very rapidly through the community, which became wildly excited. A police investigation was ordered, the woman being found alive after every house had been searched.
