That the dark-skinned Abyssinians claims racial relationship with the ancient Hebrews is the statement made in a letter received today by the Chief Rabbinate of Palestine from the Prince Regent of Abyssinia, Ras Taf Ari, who is now touring Europe.

The Prince Regent assures the Palestinian Chief Rabbinate that his people have the most friendly feelings towards the Jewish people of Palestine, and he promises to give full protection and assistance to the Falashi, a section of the Abyssinian people, which has been practicing Judaism since ancient time. A fund of $30,000. was recently raised in America for the schooling and instruction of the Falashi Jews.

It will be recalled that, according to the tradition of the royal house of Abyssinia, the royal family are the descendants of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon. Tradition has it also that the ruler is the “Son of a Lion,” and it is noteworthy, in that respect, that the name of the Prince Regent, in Hebrew, means: Head (Rosh), Child (Taf), Lion (Ari).
