Roumanian Government Prohibits Jews in Czernowitz from Protesting Against Excesses

Inspector General Clarescu of the Roumanian Secret Police, Siguranza, arrived here today with authority to restore order in the city.

Inspector General Olarescu visited, at the hospital, Leon Kreist, who was wounded last week during the excesses, and who is now in a dying condition. He then invited the representatives of the Jewish population to a conference.

A protest meeting arranged by Jewish leaders, who intended also to have the Jewish stores closed as a protests against the Jewish atrocities, has been prohibited by a special order of the Minister of the Interior.

Two Jews were mistreated by Roumanian students last Thursday. Their beards and peyes were cut off.

It has been established that the anti-Semitic student leader, Popesou, was wounded during the recent excesses. They city is now quiet.
