Roumanian Prime Minister Pronises Protection to Jewish Population

A report from Bucharest states that Dr. Cosma, Member of the Roumanian Parliament for the city of Temesvar, presented to Prime Minister Bratianu, on behalf of the Jewish community of Temesvar, a memorandum concerning the anti-Jewish excesses carried on by the students of the Technicum, during the latter part of May.

The Prime Minister promised Dr. Cosma that he would take the proper measures to prevent further excesses, that he would prosecute legally the guilty ones, and that he would see to it that those students who were involved in the excesses, were expelled from the Roumanian colleges.

A report from Klausenburg states that anti-Semitic excesses took place for the first time in the mountain town of Orawicza. Last Wednesday night, the synagogue in that town was attacked by a group of hooligans who demolished the building.

Further mistreatment of Jewish passengers occurred on a railway train between Cluj and Honyard, according to a report. It was only upon a threat by the railway officials that they would stop the frain that the Jewish passengers were left alone by the anti-Semitic youths.
