Lithuanian Parliament Passes Sunday Closing Bill

The Lithuanian Parliament passed the bill providing for a compulsory Sunday Rest Law in its third reading today. According to the provisions of the law all stores and factories must be closed on Sundays and Christian holidays.

The Kovno police was ordered to start investigations with regard to the day of prayer and fast proclaimed by the Kovno Rabbinate. Orders were also issued to fine the Jewish storekeepers who closed their places of business on that day.
