Grand Duchess Cyril Feted on Way to America

The Grand Duchess Cyril of Russia, with her entourage, is aboard the French liner Paris, which is due here today. In honor of her Imperial Highness many festivities were held aboard the Paris on Wednesday, according to a radio from the ship to the company’s offices. The message read:

“The festivities he honor of the Grand Duchess began with a gala dinner, the Captain’s table being graced with the presence of the Grand Duchess, her two ladies-in-waiting, Mme. Orloff, widow of General Orloff, who was assassinated some years ago, and Mme. Makaroff, widow of Admiral Makaroff, who commanded the fleet in the Russo-Japanese War, and Admiral Petroff of the Russian Imperial Navy. Other guests at the Captain’s table were Alvan T. Fuller, formerly Governor of Massachusetts: Mrs. Homer Gage, Mrs. MacGreger, Dr. Jacques Le Mee and Dr. Jean Illingworth-Helle.

“Following the dinner a brilliant Russian concert was given in the grand salon, presided over by the Grand Duchess as president of honor and participated in by Samuel Dushkin, Russian violinist; Helen Stromilo, pianist; Wronska and Alveroff, Russian dancers, and Mme. Makaroff, who recited. The concert was followed by a grand ball.

“Today at 3 P. M. gayety will give way to tragedy when Mme. Makaroff will lecture on the Russian revolution.”
