The audience granted to Austen Chamberlain by Pope Pius XI lasted for an hour and a half. The question of Palestine and the position of religion in Soviet Russia were the main topics of discussion, it was declared. After the audience with the Pope, Chamberlain conferred with Cardinal Gasparri.
