Emir Bashir Il Hassan, famous Arab leader and Chief of the Gazamiga tribe, was arrested in Il Gar by the Transjordanian Government, according to a report of the Secretary of the Moslem-Christian Association in Beisan, published in the Arab paper, “Alef-Ba”. The Chief and his son were taken to Arbab.
“Emir Bashir was one of the leaders devoted to the Arab-Syrian Government in the days of King Feisal”, the report states. “When Emir Abdullah arrived at Amman, the Emir preferred to be a subject of Transjordania rather than Palestine, despite his connections with Palestine, half of his property being here. He served the Transjordanian Government faithfully and devotedly. He refused to sell land to Zionists although they offered him large sums of money. He was a very active leader in opposing the Zionists in II Gor and was elected member of the Executive Committee at the fifth Arab Congress”, the report concludes.
