The Keren Ha’yishub was established at the Congress of the Agudath Israel in Vienna in 1923. The fund was chartered in London and is headed by many prominent European rabbis, including Dr. Solomon Breuer of Frankfort, Rabbi Abraham Underwyser of Amsterdam, Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzenski of Vilna, Rabbi Israel Meer Ha’Cohen, the author of “Choefetz Chaim,” Rabbi Abraham Mordecai Alter (Chassidic Rabbi of Poland), Rabbi Israel Friedman (Chassidic Rabbi of Czortkow) and Rabbi Joseph Chaim Sonnenfeld of Jerusalem.

PALESTINE EMIGRATION OFFICES IN RUSSIA WILL BE LEGALIZED, AGRO-JOINT NOT ASKED TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY, DR. ROSEN CABLES

A denial of the report from Berlin that the Agro-Joint was asked by the Soviet Government to assume responsibility for the Palestine Emigration Offices in Soviet Russia was made by David A. Brown, national chairman of the United Jewish Campaign, following an inquiry directed to Moscow.

Mr. Brown made public the reply of Dr. Rosen, head of the Agro-Joint, which read:

“Replying to your cable of the eighth, the information is incorrect. Palestine Emigration Offices will probably be legalized, but matter not definitely decided yet. The Agro-Joint has not been asked to take care of these offices.”

Rabbi Joseph Silverman has been elected honorary rabbi of Temple Emanu-El, Brooklyn, N. Y., where he occupies the pulpit on Friday nights.

Rabbi Silverman is rabbi emeritus of Temple Emanu-El, New York City.
