Department for Jewish Affairs Will Be Established in French Foreign Office

A special department for Jewish affairs will be established in the Quai d’Orsay, the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency here learned today. The Department will be headed by M. Carnet, former chief of the Department for Religious Affairs.

The French Foreign Office is recently showing an increased interest in Jewish affairs, particularly with regard to Palestine. The head of the Foreign Office, Berthelot, personally watches developments in Jewish life. He has recently come to the forefront by lending his support to the establishment in France of the Palestine France Committee with the participation of the most prominent leaders in French political life.
