Thirty-three graduates will receive degrees and diplomas from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Seminary, the institution for training Orthodox rabbis, at the commencement exercises on March 7th. This is the largest class ever graduated in the Seminary’s history. Sixteen graduates will receive the S’Micha, the authorization to act as rabbis and seventeen will receive diplomas from the Teachers’ College.
Most of the graduates have already been called to positions. The commencement marks the last graduation in the present building of the Yeshiva as construction is now under way for the erection of the first group of three buildings which will be part of the eight buildings comprising the Yeshiva of America.
The graduation this year commemorates the anniversary of the death of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan, great Jewish scholar, after whom the Yeshiva is named. The exercises will be held at the Kehillath Jeshurun Congregation on East 85th Street, New York.
The Rabbis to be graduated are: S. Baum, B. Axelman, M. Mollotin, J. Lookstein, N. Hefetz, M. Cohen. A. Rosenberg, M. Schuchatowitz, A. S. Irom, J. Miller, A. Schapiro. B. Rubinstein, S. Levine, P. H. Greenstein, H. Schoenfeld and M. Charich.
