Governor’s Wife Aids Women’s Division of N. Y. United Jewish Campaign

Mrs. Alfred E. Smith, wife of Governor Smith, and Mrs. James J. Walker, wife of New York’s mayor, will serve in association with Mrs. Jacob H. Schiff as honorary chairmen of the Women’s Division in the United Jewish campaign of New York, it was announced by Mrs. Abram I. Elkus, chairman of the women’s organization for the drive.

The Women’s Division in the drive has set itself a $500,000 quota to be raised exclusively from the contributions of New York Jewish women.

A tea was given on Thursday for women workers in the Brooklyn section of the drive, of which Mrs. Nathan L. Goldstein is chairman.

A celebration to commemorate the signing of the contract for the building of a synagogue and Talmud Tarah was held Saturday night at Hebrew Institution and Talmud Torah, in New Rochelle, N. Y. The building will cost about $200,000. Rabbi Louis Greenberg is Rabbi of the congregation. Mr. Maurice La Vine is president.
