Nahum Sokolow, chairman of the Zionist World Executive, was greeted by the South African Jewish community at a celebration which took place last night at the City Hall here.

The City Hall was crowded to capacity. The audience listened to an address by General Smuts, former Prime Minister of South Africa, who, describing the history of the Zionist movement and the issuance of the Balfour Declaration, stated that Lord Milner was the man in the British war cabinet who worked hardest for the acceptance of the formula for a Jewish national home. in Palestine. Col. Leopold H. Amery, the present Minister for the Colonies, is another who worked hard for the success of the Zionist movement, General Smuts declared.

While the audience gave General Smuts a tremendous ovation, Mr. Sokolow rose, declaring that General Smuts, too, was very helpful both in an official and unofficial capacity.
