Leonard Montefiore, communal worker and member of the council of the Jewish Colonization Association, was elected president of the Anglo-Jewish Association at its meeting here yesterday.

Mr. Lucien Wolf, secretary of the Joint Foreign Committee of the Anglo-Jewish Association and the Board of Jewish Deputies, submitted a report in which he stated that the situation of the Jewish population in Roumania has changed with the advent of the new government. While during the regime of the previous government the Joint Foreign Committee received numerous reports from Roumania concerning anti-Jewish excesses, since the new government is in power, only two such reports have been received.

The recommendation to convoke a conference of the Spanish Portuguese congregations in Great Britain and America to consider a mission to the Marranos was adopted.
