Palestine was admitted as a member of the League of Nations Societies, a voluntary union of bodies advocating the League idea, according to a decision of the juridical commission of the International Federation of League of Nations Societies at a plenary session here.
The decision was taken following considerable opposition within the commission, lead by the delegate from Italy. Mr. M. Dizengoff, former mayor of Tel Aviv, presented the case for Palestine.
With the advice that the Palestine Union should endeavor to represent all sections of Palestine, irrespective of race and creed, the Commission decided unanimously that from the juridical standpoint nothing prevents the admission of Palestine.
