The incident of social discrimination against Jews by the membership committee of the Royal Mid Surry Golf Club is still holding the attention of the British public. Sir Edward Samuel, prominent member of the Jewish community, declares today in the “London Daily News” that several years ago he applied for membership in the Club. However, when he learned that the Club objected to members of the Jewish faith, he immediately withdrew his application. Sir Edward adds that the club has a crown lease and possibly the crown may seriously consider the question of the renewal of the lease if it is shown that the committee is discriminating against certain religious beliefs.
