Legal proceedings against the Czernowitz Jewish newspapers, “Ostjuedische Zeitung.” “Vorvaerts,” “Allgemeine Zeitung,” and “Morgenblatt,” were started at the order of the attorney general, following a demand made by the anti-Semitic newspaper, “Gazeta Poporolu.”
The newspaper charged the Jewish press with the responsibility for the murder of the Jewish student Falik by an anti-Semitic student in the Czernowitz court. The paper charged that the Jewish press incited Jewish students against the Christian League and that it has conducted an anti-state agitation.
