A castle in Riesen Park, Freienwalde, the property of the family of the late Walter Rathenau, German Jewish statesman, was donated by the family for public use.
The castle, which is valued at a large sum, was at one time the property of the royal family. The Reichstag has sent an address of thanks to the Rathenau family for the gift.
A testimonial dinner was given for Assistant District Attorney Rose Rothenberg (Mrs. Maximilian W. Goldstein) at the Hotel Astor, New York, Sunday night by the Independent Ladies’ Aid Society Aid Society of the Hebrew Children’s Home for Temporary Shelter. About 200 persons were present. Nathan Burkan, Henry M. Goldfogle, Judge Gustave Hartman. Judge Leopold Prince, and Judge Samuel D. Levy were among the speakers.
Miss Rothenberg was instrumental in obtaining a State charter for the society.
Mrs. Rachel A. Bernstein, who has been President of the Ladies’ Aid Society since its foundation, announced that a plot at the comer of Grand Concourse and 205th Street, the Bronx, had been purchased as the site for a new building for the Shelter. A campaign to raise money for the undertaking is to be started immediately.
