A delegation of Presbyterian Ministers from various parts of the country, headed by Reverend Frank B. Gigliotti, representative of the American Legion in Italy, called on President Coolidge yesterday and appealed for the amendment of the Immigration Law so as to exempt from the quota the wives and children of alien declarants.

The delegation also conferred with Chairman Johnson and Congressmen Box and Bacon of the House Immigration Committee.

It is understood that the delegation will be given a formal hearing by the Committee this week, when they will endeavor to persuade the Committee to take a more liberal attitude toward the proposed amendment.

Congressman Perlman declared today that despite the fact that the Committee has already voted down the Wadsworth amendment, it was not technically barred from still approving it as the vote taken was only indirectly in connection with the bill. Perlman’s companion measure, introduced in the bill. Perlman’s companion measure, introduced in the House at the same time as the Wadsworth amedment in the Senate, has never been finally voted upon by the Committee.
