David A. Brown was temporary chairman of the meeting of retail merchants called last night by the Michigan Retail Merchants’ Association for the purpose of protesting against Henry Ford opening his commissaries to the general public. More than 1,000 merchants attended the meeting where Ford’s policy was described as ruinous to the retail trade.
G. N. Staples, who stated he was in charge of Ford’s commissaries, announced at the meeting that the commissaries would be closed to the general public following the boycott said to have been organized against Ford products by members of the Retail Merchants’ Association.
