The progress of the cooperative movement among Jewish labor in Poland was reported at the national conference of cooperative societies’ representatives opened here yesterday. Forty-six delegates representing eighteen towns are attending.
From the reports submitted to the conference it is apparent that notwithstanding the economic crisis in Poland, the cooperative movement gained in strength. During the past year nine new cooperatives were opened in the city of Warsaw and 21 in various other towns. The Jewish labor cooperatives in Poland had a turnover during the year of 20,000 Zlotys and employed 137 workers. The cooperatives maintained 14 labor clubs and nine libraries.
