Palestine Now Has 566 Medical Practitioners

There were 566 medical practictioners in Palestine in January. 1927, of whom 405 were Jewish. The names of four doctors were added to the list during February and March. There are 126 Jewish women doctors. Ninety-five of the Jewish doctors are resident in Jerusalem, 144 in Tel Aviv and 51 in Haifa. Thirty-four per cent of the doctors hold appointments and the remainder are in private practice.

The twenty-third annual convention of the Jewish Consumptives’ Relief Society of Denver will consider problems for the care of Jewish tuberculars during its sessions in Atlantic City from May 20 to May 23.

Among those expected to participate in the deliberations is Prof. Allan K. Krause. in charge of the Tuberculosis Dispensary at Johns Hopkins University and Editor of the “American Review of Tuberculosis”. Dr. Philip Hillkowitz is President of the Society and Dr. C. D. Spivak, Secretary.

The convention will also formally launch the Society’s $1,000,000 program which will increase its capacity from 300 to over 400 patients and provide opportunities for further tuberculosis research.
