Soviet Court Sentences Mohel to Imprisonment

A sentence of two years’ imprisonment was imposed by the District Court of Volyn on a mohel for failure to observe sanitary rules in performing a circumcision operation by the mohel. Reitberg. The eration by the Mohel, Reitberg. The midwife was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

BEQUEATHES $400,000 TO CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS

The Hospital for Joint Diseases of the City of New York is the largest public beneficiary in the will of the late Leo L. Doblin, filed yesterday in Surrogate Court. Mr. Doblin died in Gallup, N. M., May 16, at the age of 53.

An annex for the free treament of crippled children, a dormitory and training school for nurses and a pathological department will be added to that institution as a result of Mr. Doblin’s will. For a number of years he has been interested in the hospital and some time ago he donated a moving picture machine for the amusement of the patients. He leaves in trust a fund of $10,000 for the maintenance of the machine. The bequest to the institution, outright and contingent, totals $252,000.

Large bequests to his family and relatives revert to charity at the death of the beneficiaries.

The bequests to public institutions not mentioned above were: Montetiore Hospital for Chronic Diseases, $5,000 outright and $200,000 contingent; Home for Incurables, $25,000 contingent: Beth Israel Hospital, $15,000 contingent; Convalescents Home for Hebrew Children, Rockaway, N. Y., $5,000 outright and $10,000 contingent; Society for the Relief of the Destitute Blind, $25,000 outright; Mount Sinai Hospital of the City of New York, $10,000 for research; Home for Aged and Infirm Hebrews, $5,000; Sixth Pythian District Foundation of New York City, $10,000; Jewish Consumptive Relief Society, of Denver, Col., $5,000 outright and $5,000 contingent; Clara de Hirsch Home for Working Girls, $2,000; Mount Neboh Cemetery Association, of Brooklyn, $3,000 outright; Herman Knapp Memorial Eye Hospital, $5,000; University Hospital in Palestine, $5,000; Seaside Home for Crippled Children, Far Rockaway, $5,000; Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, $5,000; Michael Reese Hospital of Chicago, $5,000; the Lebanon Hospital Association, $5,000; the Hebrew University in Palestine $5,000.
