Jewish Organizations to Consider Methods to Combat White Slavery

The international conference of representatives of Jewish organizations to combat white slave traffic will be opened here June 22. Claude Montefiore will preside at the conference.

Among the organizations to be represented at the conference are the Jewish Colonization Association, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the American Jewish Congress, the Emigdirekt, Der Hilfsverein der Deutschen Juden, the Independent Order B’nai Brith, the American National Council of Jewish Women, the Hebrew Ladies Society of Australia, and other Jewish organizations in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Holland, Lativia, Lithuania, Roumania and Sweden. The Jewish Colonization Association will be represented by M. Louis Oungre. Dr. Stephen S. Wise will represent the American Jewish Congress, Alfred M. Cohen, president of the Independent Order B’nai Brith, will attend. German Jews will be represented by Professor Sobernheim and Polish Jews by Deputy Madam Melzer.

The agenda of the conference includes consideration of the situation which resulted due to the post-war changes in the various countries and their relation to the white slave traffic inasmuch as this effects Jewish women. Particular consideration will be given to the aspect of the problem which has arisen due to the separation of families because of the stringent enforcement of the United States Immigration Law.
